Construction Contacts
MainStreet Plainfield, Inc., is in the process of distributing business cards with cell phone contact information for Village staff and the construction superintendent and resident engineer. Do not hesitate to contact us should you have a question or problem - big or small. We are here to help minimize the disruption the construction project causes for your business to the greatest extent possible. You may also stop by our construction office at 24040 W. Lockport between Cathy's Sweet Creations and Sunny Side of the Street Antiques.

Awning Removal
A subcontractor may begin removing store-front awnings during the week of March 24, 2008. Awnings will be removed and stored at the Village's Public Works Facility at no charge to business/building owners. Awnings will be removed to avoid damage from construction dirt and debris, as well as to clear the right-of-way for overhead equipment. Affected businesses will be notified and will be given as much advance notice as possible.

Businesses with signage on their awnings will be granted the right to obtain a temporary sign permit (Click for application) for a banner sign, with the permit fee waived by the Village. The maximum sign area is 48 square feet. The sign must be purchased by the business, and we ask that you submit the sign dimensions to Planning Division staff to confirm compliance with our sign regulations. A sample sketch is attached for your reference.

The Village has installed 18-inch signs in front of each storefront to provide business identification signage for pedestrians. These signs will be installed upon completion of the pedestrian safety wall. Businesses who have awning signage removed will be the priority installation for pedestrian business identification signage.
