Project Details |
Welcome to the project website of the Lockport Street road reconstruction and streetscape improvement project in downtown Plainfield, Illinois. The streetscape project, along with related upgrades to the watermain and sanitary sewer service laterals under Lockport Street, are much-needed improvement to the aging infrastructure that also give Plainfield an opportunity to dramatically enhance its downtown district. This website has been created by the Village of Plainfield staff to provide information and updates about the project to the Plainfield community. The project is currently in the initial stages of construction. The first portion of the project that is nearing completion is the installation of new, 1-1/2-inch water services in most of the buildings on Lockport Street to replace much older, smaller lead services. This work began in early February 2008. In addition, the Village of Plainfield has selected the firm of George Sollitt Construction Company to act as the construction manager for the overall project. Sollitt's work on the water main installation, road reconstruction and streetscape improvements began on March 24, 2008.
Plainfield residents and the shopping and traveling public are encouraged to visit this website frequently. The website provides details regarding downtown events and promotions, construction information, project plans, and other useful information.
